While people often have a certain idea of what dentures are in their head, there is actually a diversity of different types of dentures—each with unique advantages. The type of denture that is right for a patient will depend on a variety of factors including the present condition of the jaw bones and other anatomical structures in the mouth, cost and the particular needs of the patient.

Dentures are teeth replacement prosthetics that are used to replace a large portion or all of a patient’s teeth. They are made with durable materials, allowing a patient to use them regularly without worrying about replacements.

Traditional Dentures

Traditional dentures are made in a lab, and are custom made for the needs of each particular patient. These dentures are not placed until the patient’s gums are allowed to heal after an extraction. A mould is used so the dentures properly fit the mouth of the patient, and the teeth are customized by the dentist to look better and how the patient wants them to.

“BPS” stands for “Biofunctional Prosthetic System”. Simply put, it is a coordinated system of products, instruments, set-up techniques, and training available exclusively to certified dental professionals. The BPS system was systematically designed to create dentures with ideal form, function, and aesthetics. It combines proven techniques with advanced materials and technology, resulting in:ultimate fit and comfort, superior chewing ability, life-like appearance, fewer adjustments and less chair time. Each individually-crafted BPS denture begins with teeth uniquely constructed in layers that mimic natural dentition. From preliminary impressions through the try-in, specialized procedures, materials, and equipment are used to ensure a precise fit and to simulate correct jaw movement and function. The denture is then fabricated through a patented injection process which results in an accurate, secure, and comfortable fit. In fact, BPS dentures are crafted to a very exacting standard If you are looking for a denture that is remarkably natural and aesthetic in appearance and functions more like natural teeth, a BPS denture may be the answer.

Implant-supported dentures are dentures that are held in place with dental implants. These implants involve the placement of titanium screws in the jawbone ( a bar or a ball type placed in the jawbone). Implant-supported dentures are a much more secure option than traditional dentures, and allow for greater functionality. Implant-supported overdentures offer many practical advantages over conventional complete dentures and removable partial dentures. These include decreased bone resorption; reduced or eliminated prosthesis movement; better aesthetics; improved tooth position; better occlusion, occlusal load, occlusal function and maintenance of the vertical dimension. In addition, implant supported overdentures improve phonetics, the patient’s psychological outlook and quality of life. Conventional dentures rely upon the residual alveolar ridge and mucosa for support and retention. Many patients have problems adapting to their complete dentures, especially to the mandibular prosthesis. The widespread use of denture adhesives is one indication that these prostheses generally provide inadequate comfort and function. Implant-supported overdentures have been a common treatment for edentulous patients for the past 20 years and predictably achieve good clinical results. Many patients, especially those who are uncomfortable with dentures, enjoy the additional retention and support implants provide for their dentures. One advantage of implant-supported full bridges and dentures is that they function like tooth roots, which preserves jaw bone. Dental implants integrate with the jawbone and dramatically reduce the rate of bone loss attributed to conventional dentures.

Partial Dentures are used when there are large gaps in the teeth, but there are still some natural teeth remaining. They attach by using a metal framework or other attachments. Partial dentures replace teeth for improved chewing and speech skills, but they also prevent your natural teeth from migrating due to the space left by missing teeth. Our “Same-Day Dentures” service also applies to partial dentures.
